Soundtrack and sound design for Anastasia Ivanova‘s short film, influenced by Jan Svankmejer. Anthropomorphised necklaces and rings squeel through cassette ribbon audio smaples to make their consumption more savage and surreal. The background music is an original recording for this film, played on a rebec (a harsh sounding, Middle Easterern ancestor of the violin, dating back to the middle ages). This is combined with flourishes of zither, locating a sonic meeting point somewhere around Kazakhstan – the actor Aza Shade’s home country.
